Bright/Dark Star Circus

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Bright/Dark Star Circus! We need several fun acts to fill out our circus-themed variety show, and would love to see if you are a good fit!

Audition requests are due by end of day June 22. You will know if/when you have been assigned an audition slot by end of day June 24.

We want true vaudevillian variety and are looking for: magicians, musicians, dancers, clowns, acrobats, stand-ups, silly songsters, puppeteers, sketch comedians, hypnotists, jugglers, snake charmers, aerialists, balloon artists, strongmen, contortionists, plate spinners, ventriloquists, sword swallowers, dog trainers, quick-change artists, stupid human tricksters, roller skate dancers, mentalists, contortionists, hula hoop jugglers, and anything else that will dazzle our audience. Group and solo acts welcome.

We are not currently looking for burlesque acts; any Dark Star burlesque needs will be pulled from our existing talent pool. If you are interested in performing burlesque on our stage, we recommend applying for Rising Stars (go to the auditions page on our website for more info).

You will be more likely to get an audition if your act is something outside-the box. For example, a comedian who performs standing on her head will be more likely than a standard stand-up. A musician who performs wearing a giraffe costume will be more likely than a standard musician. Be creative. Don’t be afraid to be weird.

If you are selected to audition, you will be assigned a ten minute slot the afternoon of June 6th. During the audition, we expect to see 5-minutes-ish of performance for our panel of producers followed by a brief get-to-know-each-other chat.

Bright Star Circus is a family-friendly show that will happen Saturdays at noon (11:30am call for performers) starting on June 20. Dark Star Circus is the 21+ counterpart and will happen late nights on weekends (times vary depending on theater schedule). You can indicate whether you want to be considered for Bright Star or Dark Star or both on the audition form. If you are interested in both, we would prefer to see a Bright Star act for your audition (and we’ll talk about what you would potentially do for the Dark Star version).

Performers will be paid per act. Group acts make the same as solo acts. You may do up to two acts in one show. Pay per act is determined based on ticket sales, with a guaranteed minimum of $25 per act.

You will always be paid within 24 hrs of your performance, provided you have given us your payment information.

Rehearsals

As this show is a compilation of acts, we will be having no full group rehearsals. If you would like rehearsal time for your act on our stage, we will provide time any week you are schedule to perform.
